The body detoxes naturally and still benefits with a dedicated program to address and reset poor lifestyle habits.

Many of the same goals as a fast, such as better digestion, more energy, healthier skin, improved mood, and weight loss, can be achieved with the help of a cleanse and/or a detox diet.

Risks of Detoxes and Cleanses

There is a saying that says the dose makes the poison. This is true for cleanse and cleanse diet. Long-term adherence could pose a risk, especially to those with health conditions. Make sure to consult with your doctor before you embark on a cleanse of any kind.

There are some risks for a typical cleansing diet.

  • There is a disease caused by magnesium salts and laxatives.

  • Large quantities of water and minimal food can cause an electrolyte imbalance.

Master cleanse

The Master cleanse is a diet designed to cleanse the body of harmful toxins. It lasts for 10 days, and consists of a fasting beverage made from the following ingredients.

  • The fresh-squeezed lemon has 2 ounces.
  • The grade B maple syrup has 2 ounces.
  • a pinch of cayenne
  • There are 8 to 12 ounces of purified water.

Experts advise easing into and out of this cleanse by cutting out processed foods and alcohol in the days leading up to the cleanse and limiting solid foods in the days after.
