Diy Detox Cleanse 3 Day Cleanse | How To Do A Diy Detox Cleanse?

Do you want to try a cleanse, but can’t afford it?

Are you looking for a new way to lose weight or improve your health?

Are you looking for clearer skin, shinier hair, and an improved digestion? Or maybe you just want to have a good night’s sleep and wake up with renewed energy.

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then I have a cleanse for you.

I’ve written these recipes specifically for detox and I’ve worked out a way for you to do your own DIY detox cleanse without having to buy anything pre-made, that’s a saving of well over £100.00!

The cost to get a 3-day cleanse is way too expensive for most people.

The plan I’ve put together is a fraction of the price.

A beetroot. A beetroot.

Why do a DIY Detox Cleanse?

I cleanse because I enjoy removing toxins from my body and mind.

I want to be able to do a cleanse whenever I feel like it, and not have to pay a premium price for a pre-made cleanse.

I prepared myself for juicing every single day by using a Nutribullet blender.

Although I have the most wonderful intentions, sometimes life gets in the way and I have to put my plans on hold.

We all do that, right?

You can set aside 3 days for this and do it cheaply, with amazing results.

It’s also a great way of losing a few pounds before a special occasion and you’ll feel better after you’ve done a cleanse.

Trust me.

There is only one investment that would make sense here, and that is the purchase of a really decent blender. I love the Nutribullet, it’s one of the best kitchen appliances I’ve ever bought, they’ve come down in price now too, and are worth every single penny in my opinion.

For this DIY Detox Cleanse, you’ll need: a blender, fruit and vegetables from the recipe card below, freezer bags for any leftovers, large cup/storage containers with lids.

What is a Detox?

A period of time in which one abstains from or eliminates toxic or unhealthy substances.

A detox can help you to reset. If you read my diary towards the end of this post you will be able to see that I enjoyed the detox process so much because it really helped me distinguish between the feeling of wanting food and needing food.

I had a good night’s sleep after I had passed the initial feeling of having a headaches and coffee, and I felt really energetic and healthy.

If you’ve never done this before you will feel amazing at the end of your cleanse and you will continue to make 3 day and even 5 day detoxes part of your life.

A bunch of carrots. A bunch of carrots.

What’s Better Blending or Juicing?

I use a Nutribullet to make smoothie when I do a cleanse. It blends up the fruit and vegetables with the fibre and doesn’t extract juice.

Either way, the recipes will work if you want to use a juicer or a blender. I think a blender is the better way to cleanse, but each person has their own preference.

Healthline has a really good article explaining the differences between Juicing vs Blending which is well worth a read.

Detox For Weight Loss

A lot of people searching for a juice cleanse will be considering doing it for weight loss.

A cleanse isn’t the answer if your primary goal is to lose weight. If you decided to drink only liquid fruit and vegetables for 30 days, you will definitely lose weight.

For healthy weight loss, you should aim to lose 2 pounds a week over a sustained period of time, even if you lose a few pounds doing a 3 or a 5 day cleanse.

I’ve been yo-yo dieting since I was 18 and the ONLY thing that worked for me was Weight Watchers. You can read more in my article Does Weight Watchers Flex Really Work?

How to do a DIY Detox Cleanse

I’ve had a few comments questioning the quantities since writing this cleanse.

Each recipe is for three juices. The duration of this cleanse is only 3 days, so it’s perfectly fine to store what is leftover in the fridge.

If you follow the list and drink 6 juices a day, you shouldn’t have a surplus, because I have triple checked the quantities needed.

You don’t need to buy both the raw honey and the Agave nectar, just choose one.

If you prefer honey, I include a reference to it as it makes this cleanse completely vegan.

If you have a question, please leave a comment below and I will be glad to help.

One of each colour is what works best, so I would recommend 6 juices a day.

The ‘White’ and ‘Gold’ are lovely for evenings as they taste decadent and soothing, and it doesn’t matter what order you drink them in.

The method for making juices is the same for all recipes. Adding water to the other ingredients is necessary with each of the juices.

I’ve been asked how much water is required, but that can be a bit of a how long question as it will depend on how powerful your blender is and what consistency you prefer.

I suggest you experiment with the amount of water you need.

Depending on the size of your fruit and veg and the size of your blender, you may need to adjust the quantities.

If you find yourself with a surplus, then you can either do a 4 or 5 day cleanse or chop up your leftovers to freeze and use the next time.

Chop, blend, or juice and enjoy!

How did I get on with my 3 day detox cleanse?

Day one

When I wake up excited to start the juice cleanse, I like to open my fridge and see all the fresh fruit and vegetables. It makes me feel better immediately.

I can’t stop thinking about food by lunchtime and wonder what I am doing.

For the sake of my readers, I bought all the ingredients I needed for the cleanse, as I had planned a whole post about it. I am a juicing martyr.

It has only been over 12 hours since I last had food, and I decide I’m being slightly dramatic.

At dinner time, I make my family feel bad for eating while I’m having juice because I want them to enjoy their meal.

I am the one who wanted to do this in the first place and no one is forcing me, so I feel a bit sorry for myself.

Make a mental note to be positive tomorrow. I go to bed with the worst headaches as I haven’t had a coffee in a long time.

Day two

The thought of juice for breakfast was not something that made me happy this morning.

I enjoy my first juice and feel refreshed once it’s finished, so I continue regardless. Maybe this isn’t that bad after all?

I have a renewed sense of energy at lunchtime and am looking forward to continuing. Don’t feel hungry because you have a busy day.

Make dinner by drinking another couple of juices and eating. I can handle food without being tempted to bite it.

I don’t want to ruin the good work I’ve done and so I’m not interested in eating today.

I usually stay up until 1-am, but if you feel a bit tired, go for an early night. Have the best night of your life!

Day three

Wake up and feel amazing. I am looking forward to the day and don’t feel hungry at all.

I have a flat stomach and haven’t had any problems with it. It feels really great.

My eyes are not as baggy as usual, and my skin looks great.

Result!

There is a difference between feeling hungry and wanting food, so take some time today to think about it.

I feel like eating a whole packet of biscuits when I’m not juicing and must remember this. The family doesn’t believe that I didn’t cheat, but they were impressed with me that I had been there for a long time. I honestly did not.

In Summary

On the 3rd day of the juice cleanse, I experienced the best results and was glad I didn’t give up, I could have gone on for 5 days.

I have been able to process the cleanse in a visual way by looking at all the fresh produce and juicing it myself.

I feel renewed and healthy.

I would probably do the juice cleanse again for 5 days next time.

It has given me a real boost to continue with healthy eating.

I use my blender at least once a day to make sure I get all the vitamins and minerals I need in my diet.

A pile of green apples. A pile of green apples.
